2023-2024
Supported Bills:
AB1996 (Asm. Alanis): This bill mandates that stadiums, concert venues, and amusement parks must have naloxone hydrochloride or a similar opioid overdose treatment readily available and well-marked. It also requires the creation of an opioid overdose training program for these venues, which can be offered onsite by the department.
AB1976 (Asm. Haney): This bill mandates the standards board to update regulations by December 1, 2026, ensuring workplace first aid kits include nasal spray naloxone hydrochloride, with the revised standards to be adopted by December 31, 2026.
AB1841 (Asm. Weber): This bill requires community colleges and California State Universities to email students at the start of each term about the availability and location of fentanyl test strips and opioid overdose medication. It also mandates providing two doses of opioid overdose reversal medication to residential advisers and house managers in student housing at the beginning of each term. The bill protects these staff from disciplinary action for drug policy violations when administering the medication and introduces new duties for community college districts, suggesting that the University of California follow the same practices.
AB71 (Asm. Rodriguez): Starting in the 2025-26 school year, this bill mandates that health education courses required for high school graduation include bleeding control instruction. It directs the State Department of Education to offer implementation guidance, protects entities and individuals providing this instruction from civil damages, and outlines exceptions to this protection.
2022-2023

AB2260 (Asm. Rodriguez): This bill requires certain buildings to have trauma kits for emergencies, detailing what the kits should contain and how to use them. It protects people who use these kits to help in emergencies from legal trouble and sets rules for maintaining and informing individuals about the kits.
