Educational Projects
First-Aid Training Modules
Our educational modules are the primary platform we utilize to teach important medical skills and the principles of bystander medicine. These modules are designed with the help of licensed EMTs, medical students, medical doctors, and experienced clinical educators. This content is taught via live instruction both in-person and remotely by our trained volunteers.
STOP THE BLEED® Certification
STOP THE BLEED® is a nationwide campaign created with guidance from the American College of Surgeons and The Committee on Trauma to prepare individuals to recognize and effectively control life-threatening bleeding. We have certified instructors that can provide certification courses at no cost! If you are interested in becoming certified, please email us at everydayresponderproject@gmail.com.
5-Minute First Aid
“5-Minute First Aid” is an ongoing video series led by licensed healthcare professionals on our curriculum team and covers a variety of important medical topics (i.e. opioid overdose). These videos are designed to be short and concise, providing preliminary exposure to various aspects of bystander care and summarizing key information that bystanders can utilize when faced with a medical emergency.
The Golden Hour
“The Golden Hour” is an animated project that aims to teach the essentials of bystander medicine. It is a three-episode series designed to be both accessible and easily interpretable by the average layperson and will focus on scene basics, management of ABCs (airway, breathing, and circulation), and proper transfer of care.
Funding for this project was provided by the USC Bridge Art + Science Alliance (BASA).
Emergency Preparedness Programs
Narcan® Distribution Project
In partnership with the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), we have worked with local grassroots organizations to equip bystanders with the life-saving opioid overdose medication Narcan® (nasal naloxone) and provided cost-free Narcan® administration training.
Trauma Kit Project
Modeled after the trauma kits provided by STOP THE BLEED® in their new legislation AB2260—which mandates the placement of bleed control kits in certain large venues—ERP has built its own modified trauma kit model that has been distributed to community organizations not covered by existing legislation. By supporting demographics not eligible for free kits under AB2260, ERP aims to bolster emergency preparedness in our community.
